Edd’N’Bred’s first staple homebrew, a French-style Saison named When in Rhône, was in need of a label.
Brewed with real, fresh herbs du province, When in Rhône is an homage to tradition and history. The name is a French play on an old adage about following conventions, and the artwork continues this play, centering on a long-lost Roman gladiator helmet among wild Basil and Sage on the banks of the Rhone River. Original concept by brewers Logan Moore and Brad Parks. I developed the idea first in pencil, then in digital matte painting in Photoshop, with the brush script type set in Illustrator.
On July 29th, 2017, When in Rhône went on to take second place in the Funky Buddha Lounge and Brewery Homebrew Competition.
