A wordmark logo for a sub-brand of the international print franchise, PIP Printing.
During the early development of the large-format department at PIP Printing of Merritt Island, it was decided that we needed a logo to promote awareness that we were expanding our services. I needed to include PIP’s established brand — the letters with the line-tone stripe — and also bring a new element of depth to the otherwise flat design. We iterated over several concepts, but the winner was this rainbow gradient extension of the stripe, a subtle suggestion of “more.”
I had access to vector files for the original logo artwork in the franchise’s archives, and created the “SIGNS” logotype with Futura Bold, with the bottom edge cut short to match the letterheight and flat edge of the existing brand.
